About Aarden

Hi, I’m Aarden! I’m a college professor and researcher with over four years of teaching experience, specializing in mathematics, statistics, programming, and science. I hold a Master’s degree in Computational Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science, which means I’ve spent years working with data, problem-solving, and explaining complex ideas in simple, clear ways. My lessons are tailored to each student: whether you’re in high school and need support with homework, preparing for university exams, or studying at the college/university level, I’ll meet you where you are. I believe learning should feel structured but also encouraging — I break down difficult concepts into manageable steps and build confidence through practice and positive feedback. What sets me apart is my ability to connect theory to real-world applications and give examples. From using Power BI and RStudio for data analysis to showing how programming skills bring ideas to life in interactive projects, I make learning engaging and practical. Students can trust me to be patient, professional, and focused on helping them reach their goals.

As a tutor, I take a clear and structured approach to teaching that blends patience with problem-solving. My methodology is rooted in breaking complex concepts into manageable steps, using real-world examples, visual aids, and guided practice so that students not only understand the “how” but also the “why.” I tailor each session to the student’s needs, beginning with a short review of prior knowledge, introducing new material with worked examples, and closing with independent practice and feedback.

A typical 1- hour lesson plan includes (although I am willing to tutor for up to 4 hour sessions!):

Quick warm-up or review (5–10 minutes) - I'll ask you questions and we'll get to the root of what you are finding difficult or confusing!

Introduction of the new concept with examples (15 minutes) - Then, we'll chat about it and go through some examples to get the background information.

Guided practice and interactive problem-solving (20 minutes) - Once we know which direction to go, we'll do some problems together.

Wrap-up, Q&A, and goal-setting for next session (10 minutes) - Then, we're all done! :)

What sets me apart is my dual background in computational science and game design, which means I can connect abstract theory to practical, engaging applications — whether that’s statistics explained through real datasets, or programming concepts demonstrated in interactive projects. I’ve taught college and university students for over four years, and I’m comfortable supporting learners from high school through undergraduate level in subjects including mathematics, statistics, programming (Python, R, C#, C++), and science (biology and chemistry).
