About Rory
I recently completed an MSc in Physics and am now focusing my research interests on quantum computing algorithms. I have a deep passion for physics and mathematics and spend much of my spare time exploring both. My Master’s thesis focused on quantum batteries, for which I received a distinction.
Throughout my studies, I’ve found that traditional teaching methods can sometimes make complex ideas feel more intimidating than they need to be. I believe learning physics and maths should be driven by understanding and curiosity—not simply memorisation and pressure.
As Albert Einstein said, “I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious.” When you genuinely enjoy a subject, the motivation to understand it comes naturally.
My own A-Level Physics teacher completely transformed my perspective. His passion and inspiring approach sparked my love for physics and helped shape the path I’m on today. I now want to do the same for others: simplifying challenging concepts, making them engaging and accessible, and helping students appreciate the beauty of physics and maths while achieving the grades they’re aiming for.
My philosophy: Always ask questions!...No matter how stupid they may sound

To get the most out of our lessons, I’d really encourage you to have a go at the questions and concepts on your own first. Don’t worry if you get stuck—that’s often where the most valuable learning happens! If there’s anything you’re unsure about or find particularly challenging, send it over to me before the lesson and we can work through it together.
My aim is to help you become a confident, independent thinker. Rather than simply finding the right answer, I want you to understand why it’s the right answer and feel comfortable working your way through problems for yourself.
We’ll spend our time really getting to the heart of the areas you find most difficult. Once we’ve cracked a tricky concept together, we can build on it with similar questions and look at it from a few different angles until it starts to feel natural.
And remember, you’re not expected to understand everything straight away. Repetition and practice are a big part of learning. The more we revisit and apply these ideas, the more confident you’ll become—and, over time, those difficult topics should start to feel much more manageable.
