About Rocky

As someone who had academic difficulties later on in their academic career, I relate to the struggles you are feeling. I understand how it feels to be confused, frustrated, and tired no matter what you try. That's why I chose to tutor, so I could be able to help those who are experiencing the same difficulties!

I was able to turn things around and become a Pre-med student at McGill University. Anything is possible with the right amount of help and guidance, there's no reason to feel alone or hopeless.

My experience as a tutor includes the following: T.E.A.M Mentor Biomechanics Course McGill University January • Taught weekly tutorial sessions for biomechanics at a university level for EDKP 208 at McGill University • Responsibilities included creating weekly teaching sessions, helping students with conceptual understanding, problem solving, and assessing any questions of in-class material • Material included Physics (mechanics/forces/angular physics/kinematics/kinetics), Biomechanical concepts, and Motor Learning.

Tutor for students at a grade school level, high school level, CEGEP level, and University level • Grade school & High School Material - Math (Algebra/Pre-Calculus) - Sciences (Physics/Chemistry) • CEGEP Material -Essay writing -Math -Sciences (Physics). • University Level Material -Medical Grade Level Anatomy (Clinical Human Musculoskeletal & Visceral Anatomy) -Medical Grade Level Physiology (Bodily systems, ex: Blood, Respiration, Digestion, Immunology, Cardiovascular, Renal, Endocrine, Nervous, Cognitive Motor etc.) -Biomechanics & Motor Learning (Mathematical integration with biomechanical and Motor Learning/Developmental concepts). -Elementary School Teacher

  • 1) When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

I had a passion for health sciences develop as I grew older and progressed into my academic career. Once I entered university, I began to grow a deep appreciation for clinical health sciences. I always thought the phrase "Medicine chose me" was a typical phrase to say, however it is the honest truth! The moment I entered the environment for the first time during my volunteering at my nearby hospital, I felt at I was exactly where I was supposed to be. There was never another profession that gave me the same excitement when I saw it or an environment where I felt I could be in 24/7. Anything I do that involves clinical health sciences doesn't feel like a chore whatsoever. That's when I knew I had to surround myself with it because nothing lit a fire inside of me like that before!
  • 2) What makes you passionate about your subject?

Anything related to the human body is fascinating to me! There are so many different perspectives to study the body from including anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, etc. That means there's always another opportunity to learn more, which makes these subjects so fun to learn about. Learning is a privilege and an amazing opportunity! Since the subject is constantly evolving with new information to learn about, I always find myself being excited to expand my knowledge of the human body!
  • 3) What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

I was never an A+ star student as you typically see in my field. Often I was avoidant with school material not because I didn't like it ,but because I just didn't understand it. I never knew how to ask for help. This really held back my potential as a student which I later suffered for later on in my academic career. I see so many other students in similar situations, who will derail their dreams because of one subject. I think it's unfair to them to lose out on their dream because of one hard class or think they're not good enough to do what they want to do just because they need some guidance. That's why helping other students is something I love. I know what that pain, struggle and frustration feels like. Knowing that I can help these students overcome those negative emotions is incredibly redeeming, not for validation of my abilities of tutoring, but for knowing somebody didn't miss out on their dream life because of one obstacle. Being a part of the process of watching someone realize their potential is a privilege and helping them is an opportunity I'm forever grateful for. We all deserve to live a life of happiness and fulfillment in what we are passionate about and doing it all together is better than doing it alone! That's what I love about tutoring, we all get to share the experience and inspire one another.
  • 4) Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

My two role models are my parents. Both of them were put through several setbacks and still always found a way to persevere to provide the amazing life I've been given. They've sacrificed everything in their lives for me. Having two dedicated parents taught me the value of support and love. Whether it's love for a person, subject, goal, or dream, love has the power to drive somebody to do the impossible. My parents achieved the impossible out of their love for me, which gave me the mentality that the impossible only exists to the extent you allow it to exist. Everything I am, have done, and will achieve is dedicated to the foundation my parents set for me. Thus, everyday and every achievement is dedicated to representing their efforts to the world.
  • 5) What are your keys to success?

Every great achievement or form of success begins with the individual truly believing they are capable of doing it. If one is not fully convinced to their core that they can achieve what they want, their likelihood of success will diminish. As much as effort matters in any goal, I always believe an individual must have faith they are capable of doing whatever it may be. The evidence that they are right in their belief is the effort they put in proving they are able to get what they envision for themselves. Anything desired, whether it is big or small begins with being able to envision it happening. Therefore, my best advice is: if you have faith, faith will have you.
