My teaching method includes a blend of musicianship, method, and choice. I believe that for a student to become a well-rounded musician they need to learn the basics of their instrument, be comfortable playing anywhere on the instrument, be able to play exercises as music (not just as practice), and most importantly- be able to play the music and songs they enjoy listening to and will want to practice and work on.
I started playing music at age 9 on the violin and never stopped learning new instruments. I started composing music at age 16 through my high school's music theory class and went on to earn a BM in Composition and an MM in Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games. My varied musical tastes/influences and multi-instrumentality give me a unique style to my playing and writing. I have been teaching at a music summer camp for the past 8 years where I taught campers five songs on a variety of instruments to perform for their parents at the end of the week. I also would sub for teachers at the studio that ran the summer camp.
