My Teaching Approach: Immersive Storytelling & Practical Communication
Teaching Method and Techniques
My approach moves away from the "repeat after me" style of traditional textbooks. I utilize Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) combined with Immersive Storytelling. Instead of just memorizing grammar rules in isolation, we build narratives. This helps students anchor new vocabulary to emotional contexts and real-world scenarios, making retention much higher. I use "Scaffolded Learning," where I provide the necessary support for complex tasks and gradually remove it as your confidence grows.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Each 60-minute session is structured to maximize engagement:
The Hook (5 mins): A brief discussion on a trending news topic or a creative prompt to get your brain "thinking in English."
Concept Introduction (15 mins): Introducing a specific grammatical structure or set of idioms through a short story or video clip.
Controlled Practice (15 mins): Interactive exercises to ensure you understand the mechanics of the lesson.
The "Live" Application (20 mins): We role-play a scenario—be it a business presentation, a job interview, or a social gathering—where you must use the day’s lesson to navigate the conversation.
Feedback & Goals (5 mins): Instant correction of pronunciation and a preview of our next objective.
