About Conor

Hi there! My name is Conor. I've been playing and making music since I was 11. Being raised in a very musical part of Ireland, as a kid I was often to be found playing in the folk/trad sessions of my local town, or busking on the streets of sunny Galway! These early experiences really shaped my passion for music, and it wasn't long before I was entering competitions (at 17 I won second place in the all-Ireland songwriting competition "Beo") and planning to become a professional musician. I started teaching around this time, and I'm proud to say since then I've been able to help many budding musicians take their first steps into the world of music! At 18 I left my hometown to study music in BIMM, Dublin. Here I really fleshed out my knowledge of the technical parts of music; Production, Composition, Arrangement, Music History, Music Business etc. I played guitar and bass for many artists in some of the most famous venues in Dublin (Whelan's, The Button Factory, Workman's...) Since graduating, I've continued teaching while also working as a producer, helping artists find their voice and record their music as well as playing guitar and bass on their records. All these rich experiences in varied aspects of music have given me a unique perspective as a teacher - I have gained deep knowledge and experience in a wide range of areas, from the technical aspects of music, to the history of different genres and artists, to real-life experience working with bands on-stage and in studios. I have played guitar in the smallest most intimate sessions in rural pubs, to the streets of large cities, to crowds of thousands of people. I bring all of this knowledge and experience into my lessons, and help students connect with music on a deeper level. My years of experience teaching has given me the skill of explaining complicated abstract concepts in an intuitive and easy to understand way, and my broad knowledge of music means I can give students the context and meaning behind these concepts so you'll understand them deeper! I've been in love with music since I was a kid, and it really has changed my life -now I want to help you get started on your journey!

About the lesson

In my lessons, we will learn songs you love, and use them to teach you the core skills and ideas to make real progress. Whether you want to play rock, pop or anything else, I am here to teach you guitar in a way that combines theory & technique in a way that feels easy, effortless & fun! I have been playing guitar & bass for over 10 years, and teaching for 7. My experience working with artists as a producer & degree in Commercial Modern Music will give you a great music experience where you see music in a way you haven’t before. Guitar is just one part of music, and we have to understand its role in a wider context! In our introductory call, we'll discuss your goals, taste and your learning style. I can’t wait to show you all the tips & tricks TikTok and YouTube doesn’t show you! These lessons are perfect for beginner-intermediate level

I tried two different guitar teachers before Conor: One was too technique focused, he would always teach me scales out of context and I told him so many times that I actually just wanted to learn songs, but he kept insisting that I had to know this first (lie). Then I tried another one that taught me a few songs he liked which definitely was better but still felt like it was a bit of copy paste, not really a personalized 1:1 lesson. A friend recommended I should try guitar lessons with Conor and haven’t looked back. We’ve been doing lessons for 6 months now and I finally gained back my love and connection for guitar. I am so grateful I found him. He’s a very dedicated teacher, who listens to what I need, and takes time to teach me songs I like, and the context of the song! I’ve learnt so much about the artists I love and how they write the songs. 100% recommend this teacher
