About Ash

I'm a professional sound designer, music producer and sound engineer and have been producing electronic music for over 25 years. I also hold a First Class Honours Degree in Sound Art and Design, attained from the London College of Communication. I am also a professional voice-over artist and have voiced many radio, television and cinema commercials, console game characters and explainer videos. I have a vast amount of experience with music production hardware and software. I've also been a DJ for many years and have released music on vinyl, CD and online/digital. I specialise in Ableton Live and AKAI MPCs and have a successful YouTube channel providing in-depth tutorials mostly for the AKAI MPC X, Live and One. I am also an expert AKAI Force user and have owned a huge range of other hardware, from samplers to synths, sequencers and modular eurorack systems.

About the lesson

I teach online via Skype or Zoom and can also visit students in person depending on their location. Typical lesson duration is 60 minutes. My approach is simple - I ask all my students to write a concise list of subjects they would like me to cover, rather than use a traditional and limiting curriculum. I do this as my wealth of experience allows me to cover most, if not all areas of music production and that way the lessons are essentially customised for each individual's needs. My lessons are suitable for complete beginners upwards from age 16 onwards.

I bought an hour of lesson time from Ash about a year ago so he can teach me the basics of a MPC-X . It took him 30 minutes for him to teach me what I needed to know and told me I could get another 30 minutes sessions whenever I wanted. I never needed it anymore. Highly recommended.

Home visits are accepted depending on how far students are from my location and booking no less than 3 hours is required. In and around London, the £40 travel surcharge covers my travel time, fuel and ULEZ. Surcharges for locations further afield are variable depending on the distance.
