About Oliver
Music production tutor with 25 years of professional experience, specialising in electronic music, particularly drum and bass, advanced multiband processing, sound design, and synthesis. Trained at Gateway School of Recording (completed 2003), I have also worked for 20 years as a sound mixer and supervisor for live music broadcasts on Channel 4 and BBC, mixing live bands and managing complex audio setups. Expert in Bitwig, Logic, Ableton, Pro Tools, Cubase, Studio One, Reaper, and most major DAWs and plugins, with advanced knowledge of audio processing, monitoring, workflow, and modern production techniques, helping students achieve professional-level results and creative independence.

My Approach to Tutoring
I focus on practical, hands-on learning tailored to each student’s goals and experience. I demonstrate techniques live, then guide students to apply them themselves, fostering independence, confidence, and a deep understanding of sound design, processing, and production workflow. Lessons are structured to combine creative experimentation with technical mastery, emphasising both “why” and “how” behind every process.

Live demonstration of production and mixing techniques
Step-by-step guidance through sound design, synthesis, and advanced processing
Analysis of your projects to identify strengths and areas for growth
Building a personal workflow and listening system for professional-level results
Typical Lesson Length:
Lessons usually run 60–90 minutes, allowing time for demonstration, hands-on practice, and discussion of theory and workflow.

25+ years as a professional music producer, sound engineer, and live sound supervisor
