About Aiyana
I currently work at a music school here in San Diego, teaching a variety of instruments including violin, viola, cello, and even a little piano! I have had over ten years of musical education: both at a high school, and college level. My teachers have been orchestral conductors, music theory professors, professional classical musicians and even fiddle teachers!

I have taught all ages: my current youngest student is around four, and my oldest is around thirty-four!
I typically use the Suzuki method, and supplement it with my own curriculum for music theory. I have also taught Essential Elements, in addition to other popular string methods. I like to start simple: teaching one technique at a time and then building on them. I believe the best players start slow, establishing a solid foundation before moving on to the next thing.
Lessons will go at YOUR pace, and I am always happy to adjust my approach in order to make your experience the best it can be. A typical first lesson will begin with the most basic instrument knowledge, such as instrument anatomy, proper posture, and rhythms. Depending on the age group, I use games and reward systems in order to encourage lesson participation and practice. I also like to send detailed emails including a lesson summary and homework, which will usually include both practicing and listening to recordings.
