About Gabe

Hi, I’m Gabe Toth, founder of Gabe Toth Music Academy. I teach music theory in a practical, musical, real-world way for students who want to actually understand what they are playing, singing, writing, or hearing. This is not dry textbook theory. My goal is to help students connect theory to real sound, real songs, real instruments, real voices, and real performance. I work with singers, pianists, guitarists, bass players, songwriters, producers, performers, adult beginners, returning students, and serious musicians who want music to finally make sense. We can work on chords, scales, keys, rhythm, intervals, ear training, reading music, lead sheets, harmony, songwriting, improvisation, arranging, basic orchestration, chord progressions, and understanding why notes and chords work together. I have 30+ years of teaching experience, 86 five-star Google reviews, and a lifetime of professional music experience as a teacher, performer, arranger, vocalist, pianist, guitarist, and music coach. What makes my theory teaching different is that I connect it directly to your instrument, voice, or musical goal. If you are a singer, we connect theory to pitch, intervals, harmony, ear training, and confidence. If you are a guitarist or bassist, we connect theory to chords, rhythm, keys, progressions, fretboard understanding, and songwriting. If you are a pianist, we connect theory to reading, harmony, voicings, lead sheets, and musical structure. If you write songs or produce music, we connect theory to chord progressions, melody, form, arranging, emotional color, and stronger musical ideas. My teaching style is clear, patient, direct, musical, and results-focused. I do not bury students in confusing terminology before they understand the sound. I help students hear it, understand it, play it, sing it, and use it. If music theory has ever felt confusing, boring, or disconnected from real music, I can help make it practical, useful, and musical.

Every music theory lesson is built around your goals, your level, your instrument, and the kind of music you actually want to understand. For beginners, we can work on notes, rhythm, reading, scales, key signatures, intervals, chords, basic ear training, and understanding how music is organized. For singers, we connect theory directly to pitch, solfege, intervals, harmony, ear training, melody, phrasing, and vocal confidence. A singer who understands what they are hearing becomes much more secure. For guitarists and bass players, we can work on chord construction, scales, rhythm, keys, progressions, fretboard understanding, lead sheets, songwriting, and how to stop guessing where the music is going. For pianists, we can work on reading, chord voicings, harmony, scales, inversions, accompaniment patterns, lead sheets, and how the keyboard shows the structure of music clearly. For songwriters and producers, we can work on chord progressions, melody writing, song form, harmony, arranging, bass movement, emotional color, and how to create stronger musical ideas. For intermediate and advanced students, we can go deeper into harmony, modulation, secondary dominants, modal mixture, improvisation, arranging, orchestration basics, analysis, and performance application. My lessons are structured, but they are not stiff. You will know what we are learning, why it matters, and how to use it in real music. A typical lesson may include ear training, rhythm work, chord study, reading, song analysis, theory exercises, songwriting application, instrument-specific examples, and a clear practice plan. My goal is simple: help you understand music so you can play better, sing better, write better, hear better, and feel more confident.
