About Jake
I am a musician and teacher specialising in music theory, piano, and flute, with studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Alongside teaching, I have performed throughout Europe both as a soloist and as part of orchestras, giving me broad professional musical experience that informs my teaching approach.
I work with students from beginner level through to Grade 8 and beyond, helping them develop a clear and confident understanding of music theory in a supportive and engaging environment. My teaching style is patient, structured, and tailored to each student’s individual goals and learning style.
Whether students are preparing for exams, supporting instrumental studies, or simply wanting a stronger understanding of music, I aim to make theory accessible, practical, and enjoyable to learn.

My music theory lessons are tailored to each student’s level, goals, and musical background, from complete beginners through to Grade 8 preparation. Lessons are designed to make music theory clear, practical, and approachable, helping students build confidence and understanding step by step.
I teach core areas including notation, rhythm, harmony, scales, intervals, chords, analysis, ear training, and exam preparation. Lessons can support instrumental studies, ABRSM and Trinity exams, GCSE/A-Level music, conservatoire preparation, or general musical development.
My approach focuses on understanding rather than memorisation, helping students apply theory naturally within real music. I aim to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and progressing at their own pace.
Having studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the Royal Academy of Music, I bring both academic and professional musical experience into my teaching. Lessons are personalised, structured, and designed to help students develop strong musical foundations with confidence.
