I believe children learn best when given quality instruction in an interesting way!. I love to keep my students engaged by animated story-telling and interactive instruction, peppered with some humor! Young children have so much to offer. I Approach my classes with an understanding that my students also have knowledge to share with me. Validating a child by truly listening to what they have to say is an essential part of the learning process. I've learned different ways to explain musical concepts from children as young as four years old sharing their view with me. What a gift!
I hold a Bachelor's of Music Therapy from the University of Wisonsin-Eau Claire. Throughout my 17 year career as a Music Therapist, Behavior Therapist, and Music Teacher, I've had the privilege of working with children ages two to 18. Most students and clients have been ages three to seven. I have a passion for sharing quality musical experiences with my students and their families. Based on my experiences as well as numerous studies conducted world-wide, I firmly believe that learning music at a young age also teaches our children life skills such as: impulse control, self discipline, mathematical concepts, communication, feeling of pride in one's accomplishments, collaboration, and family unity.
