I prefer to teach one-on-one, as every student learns differently. I enjoy sharing music history, and the science behind music with my students. When we enjoy our lesson time, the learning comes much easier. My theory teacher knew how to take, what for most teachers is a boring subject, and make it fun. I try to do the same. I always stress music literacy, as the ability to read music helps a musician in the same way that traditional literature (reading language) helps a speaker. I like to use the keyboard, not to teach piano, but as a way to help a student "see" music linearly, which can be difficult on the guitar.
