About Amy
As a dedicated music tutor with over 10 years of professional singing experience and a vibrant performance background, I am here to guide students in reaching their vocal and musical potential with enthusiasm and expertise.
From singing in choirs since before high school to pursuing a thriving education in Musical Theatre at the University of Lincoln, I bring a lifelong love of music and performance to my teaching. With A-Level and GCSE qualifications in Music and Drama, I’ve built a strong foundation in both academic and practical aspects of music. My unique, personalized approach to vocal and theory tutoring makes learning music a fun, inspiring journey focused on the student’s goals and favorite musical styles.
With qualifications in Grade 8 performance singing, with nearly 10 years of singing experience, and an education from the University of Lincoln, I bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and passion to each lesson. I’m dedicated to helping high school students, whether beginners or further ahead in their musical journey, discover and develop their musical potential with a focus on their individual goals.
Lesson Details:
Flexible Time Length: Each session lasts 1 hour to provide enough time to explore technique, creativity, and individual interests while keeping lessons dynamic and productive.
Tailored for High School Students: I specialize in teaching high school students, giving them the skills, encouragement, and confidence they need to excel.
Personalized, Fun Lessons: I make music theory and singing accessible and engaging by incorporating the student’s favorite genres and styles into the learning process, keeping them motivated and invested in their progress. We will begin our first lessons in a more conversational setting so I can understand what YOU seek from our lessons.
The Four Ps: Using the "Four Ps" approach—Posture, Pitch, Projection, and Performance—I guide students toward confident, expressive singing while building a solid technical foundation.
Simultaneous Learning: I integrate multiple areas of study, like vocal technique, music theory, and sight-reading, into a single lesson. This approach allows students to see how theory and technique work together to make them better singers and musicians.
Fun, Accessible Music Theory: I believe theory should be enjoyable, so I use interactive methods like games, challenges, and real-life musical examples to make theory clear and relevant, helping students build a deeper appreciation and understanding of music.
Personal Log Book and Portfolio: To keep students motivated and track their growth, we use a personalized log book and portfolio. This serves as a creative representation of their musical identity and achievements. Students record their new techniques, progress milestones, and accomplishments, building a personalized record of their journey.
I’m committed to helping students achieve their personal best by tailoring each lesson to their unique style and aspirations. If you’re ready to start exploring and building your musical skills in a supportive, creative environment, let’s get started!
