Hi! My name is Hunter, and I am so excited to meet you! I have experience teaching all ages, but my specialty is Elementary-High School (ages 8-17) students with intrinsic motivation for music!

About Hunter
Hunter (they/them) is a Seattle-based musician, dedicated to a modern teaching style that is responsive and supportive to every student. Hunter grew up in Tacoma (Parkland/Spanaway) with classical music lessons. They found joy in music, but hated the formality and conformity of "classically trained" musicians. They want all kiddos, pre-teens, teens, young adults, and adults to find joy in music, no matter how dedicated or interested they are. Hunter is excited to find YOUR way of enjoying music.
When Hunter is not teaching, they are cultivating their indoor plants, caring for and playing with their cat, Toast, and building community around their neighborhood (Hunter loves making a new friend).

Lessons with Hunter are different than "classical" piano lessons. Hunter prioritizes the student's needs first, ALWAYS. If a student wants to learn lead sheets to pop songs, Hunter has classes for you. If a student wants to dive into sub-genres of Classic Rock, bring on Elton John and Bruce Springsteen! In the event that a student has an affinity for classical music, Hunter is classically trained, with teaching experience from School of Rock, several private studios, and co-owning a Resource Center in Seattle, WA.
Lessons are structured into 30-minute and 60-minute chunks. Hunter finds that if a student is ready for a 45, they are ready for an hour. And if a 45 is feeling too long, a 30-minute lesson can be restructured to feel better utilized!
