About Mia

Being born and raised all my life in San Antonio has been such a pleasure to not move around. But at the same time coming from a single dad who wanted nothing but the best for me has had its rocky roads for sure. I also go to a rigorously academic school where we have to take all of biology, physics, and chemistry in the 6th grade. So I would like to say I'm pretty well versed in the whole school idea. I'm currently taking 6 AP classes with hope to take the tests in May. I love psychology, as well as English, so learning about the brain has helped me apply how to study and how I can learn certain concepts faster. I have also learned that it's perfectly fine with making mistakes, when I was younger I didn’t really understand that everything would be okay if I got one bad grade, I thought that everything had to be perfect, but now I have evolved to understand that everything will be okay and I hope I can teach your child that it’s all okay too if you don’t understand every single thing and I will try my best

About the lesson

My typical methods that I use are for memorization and helping the kids understand the concept rather than why the correct answer is right, because if they don't understand why it is right they won't learn it! I usually do a sit-down lesson plan, and I love doing 1 on 1 because it gives me a chance to understand the student for who they are and not for just a quick tutoring session, I usually aim for younger students around the 10 age range because it allows me to understand where they are coming from in their mind. I do also tutor for my school so I am used to working with high schoolers as well. I also get an idea from the parents on what the child is like and how we, the parent and me, can know what is working or not working for the child.
