About Natasha
My name is Teacher Tasha. I am an English teacher from the United States, with academic experience in journalism, proofreading and translation as well. I am 36 years old, and have over 10 years’ experience teaching English both in the classroom, as well as online, with students from over 10 countries around the world
. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in 2008 from the Art Institute of Colorado, majoring in English Literature and Fine Arts. I completed my TEFL and IELTS Certificates in 2018, participated in creative writing courses, and received a certificate in Journalism, which was geared towards reporting in the MENA Region.
My students have ranged in age from 3-65 years old, including beginners to advanced, as well as university students, business professionals, even those with careers in international relations. One of my most highlighted experiences was instructing at an international school in China. I am also very fond of the experience of having taught English, while mediating political debate, to students in the middle east. I lived abroad for 12 years, and speak 2 secondary languages fluently; therefore, I can relate to the challenges and fears that my students may face. Some of my hobbies include language learning myself, and I also enjoy cooking, snowboarding, and yoga!

Throughout my courses, I incorporate 5 teaching steps into my classes in which guarantee a faster learning curve for all ages and levels. They are:
1 – Warm up, 2 – Presentation, 3 – Practice, 4 – Production, 5 - Wrap up.
The warm up is for the students and teacher to get to know each other, and get the students to feel comfortable. In this step, I want to help the students ease their way into thinking in English, and to release any feelings of nervousness. We will do simple greetings, a few easy questions to get the conversation going, and give a star for fun if the student’s age deems appropriate.
Step 2 is presentation. This is where the teacher introduces the topic of the day, and gives an example or two of the materials that will be taught.
The third step is practice. This is when the teacher and student practice the given materials together. The teacher will possibly say a sentence, and the student may repeat it. We might incorporate some games and humor into the learning, such as speed tests, memory games, even physical activities for a classroom environment. If we are in a virtual setting and given the opportunity, I love to use interactive software to make the learning a more vivid experience, with movable characters and pop-ups, or even games such as crossword puzzles to challenge the memory.
Step 4 is Production. In this step, the teacher will assess the students’ comprehension of the materials just learned. The teacher will listen to the student produce the materials on their own. If the student is having difficulty, we will do another practice round together. If the student succeeds in producing the materials correctly, we will then move on to the next group of materials for the lesson, or, move on to -
Step 5, which is wrap-up, for a nice transition to end the lesson. If the students are young, we can count the rewarded stars that had been given throughout the lesson. We may practice the materials one last time, or simply sing a goodbye song together. If the student is an adult, the teacher will give some constructive feedback, as well as give some time for questions and answers. The teacher may or may not assign homework or any recommended materials to review…. And send the student off with encouraging energy, to enjoy the rest of their day.
With that, I thank you for taking the time to listen to my introduction, and I will be excited to see you in class if you so choose me as your teacher! Thanks again, and have a great day!
