About Jan Rachel
Hello! I am a chess player, mentor, and coach with 17 years of experience in the game. Throughout my chess journey, I have participated in numerous local, national, and international tournaments, allowing me to gain valuable competitive experience and a deeper understanding of the game.
As a mentor, I am passionate about helping students improve their chess skills while building confidence, discipline, patience, and critical thinking. I believe that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching approach to match their learning style, pace, and goals.
I strive to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students can enjoy the game while continuously improving. Whether you are a complete beginner, a casual player, or a competitive student preparing for tournaments, I am committed to helping you reach your full potential and develop a strong foundation in chess.

I have been playing chess for 17 years and have competed in both national and international tournaments. As a chess mentor, my goal is not only to help students improve their ratings but also to develop critical thinking, discipline, confidence, and decision-making skills that can be applied beyond the chessboard.
My teaching approach is tailored to each student's level and goals. For beginners, I focus on chess fundamentals such as piece movement, opening principles, tactical patterns, checkmates, and endgame basics. For intermediate and advanced players, lessons involve game analysis, positional understanding, calculation training, tournament preparation, opening repertoire development, and strategic planning.
A typical lesson includes a review of previous games, discussion of mistakes and improvements, tactical exercises, lesson proper, and practice games with feedback. I emphasize understanding concepts rather than memorizing moves so students can become independent thinkers over the board.
What sets me apart is my combination of competitive tournament experience and teaching experience. Having played chess for many years and actively mentored students, I understand both the practical and instructional sides of the game.
My lessons are suitable for children, students, hobbyists, beginners, and competitive players who want to improve their chess skills, tournament performance, and overall understanding of the game.
