About Ali
I am a college student who has years of mathematics tutoring under my belt. I have tutored elementary, middle and high school students as a Mathnasium Instructor in areas ranging from basic mathematics (ex. counting, patterns, addition, subtraction) to geometry and precalculus. I received a score of 800 on the SAT Mathematics exam and I am also a recipient of the National Merit Scholarship award at my college.

As a tutor, I emphasize the logical process of reaching an answer to a math problem. I use a method known as Socratic Thinking. This means that instead of telling my student how to get the answer to a given math problem, I ask questions that lead him or her to the appropriate answer. Therefore, not only does my student know the answer, but they also understand how to get there and why that answer is the correct one. Through training students to think logically, I better equip them to apply mathematical strategies to other types of problems.
