About Dorothy

I am a native Bengali speaker who moved to London in 2007. I attended an English‑speaking school and have been speaking both Bengali and English fluently throughout my life, giving me a strong understanding of both languages and cultures.
This bilingual background allows me to support learners clearly and confidently, especially children who are learning Bengali as their native or heritage language. I am patient, approachable, and able to explain concepts in a way that suits each learner’s level, helping them build confidence in their language skills.

About the lesson

I am a native Bengali speaker with a strong passion for supporting learners in developing confidence and fluency in their language skills. I work with learners of all ages, but I am especially comfortable working with primary‑school‑aged children and children learning Bengali as their native or heritage language.
My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and child‑friendly. I create a positive and supportive learning environment where children feel comfortable speaking, asking questions, and learning at their own pace. I focus on building strong foundations in speaking, listening, reading, and basic writing, using age‑appropriate methods that make lessons engaging and enjoyable.
I understand how important it is for children to develop and maintain their mother tongue, cultural identity, and confidence in communication. I tailor each lesson to suit the individual child’s level and needs, whether they are just beginning their Bengali language journey or strengthening skills they already have.
I am reliable, approachable, and committed to helping every learner feel confident, supported, and proud of their progress.
