About Emma

Learning a new language, or improving a foreign language, is an enjoyable experience. Classes with me will be as serious or as fun as you want them to be. Every student has a different method of learning and I am here to adapt to you!
I currently work for an English teaching company who specify in helping professionals learn/improve Business English. This is an important skill to open opportunities and possibilities, but it’s great to learn the day-to-day language too. You tell me what your necessities are: topics you’re interested in, mandatory communication, interview skills etc., so that the classes are the best for you.
From experience in learning foreign languages with different accents and vocabularies, I believe it is important to inform students that this also occurs in English. I will specify in British English as this is my native language, but will allow students to express themselves and learn in American English context as well.
Online classes can be done through Skype, Zoom or Microsoft Teams – with whichever programme the student feels most comfortable – and can be one-to-one or groups.

About the lesson

I am a native English speaker with a passion for foreign languages. I graduated in Modern Languages (Portuguese and Spanish), and therefore have a lot of experience in learning languages as well as living in foreign countries. I like meeting new people and sharing experiences – classes are conversations, not interviews!
After my graduation I completed the CELTA qualification (Certificate of English Language Teaching for Adults) with a high grade. It was an excellent and worthwhile experience.
During my 5 month study abroad in Brazil I assisted other exchange students as they prepared for English exams as well as with local residents who were keen to enhance their knowledge for the purposes of travelling to the United Kingdom. I found this work rewarding as I was able to see their progression first-hand and this strengthened my want to become a teacher.
