About Yuan
I was born and raised in China, then came to U.S. after college for higher education. I've stayed in the states since then for a decade, working and living in the beautiful California. My husband is an American who only speaks English. So I have 2 families speaking 2 different languages. I understand both languages and cultures very well, and have a lot of sympathies for the learners of them. I am a natural teacher, who really likes to use examples and parables to help my students understand not only the words and grammar but how in real life they apply and the subtle cultural meanings behind them.

About the lesson

- In the first session we will talk through your goal of learning Chinese, it will help me to plan our classes going forward, for example, speaking skill, business Chinese, casual Chinese, or reading and writing.
- For different learning goals the strategy will be different, but I emphasize on practicing with near-real-life scenarios, then revisit the learning points in the conversations. But of course if your goal is to improve reading and writing the practice will be less conversational. But no matter what your goal is, there will be very specific materials to follow each class.
- I will respect the student's preference of homework load, and try to make the memorizing process less painful but more fun!
