About Jesse
I tutored seven Arabic students from mid 2012 to the end of 2013. All of my students graduated the Defense Language Institute with at least a 2/2/1+ ILR in listening, reading and speaking, respectively. One of those students received the Kellogg Award, given to students with "High academic achievement in language training" and "Documented dedicated efforts toward gaining a deeper
understanding of a foreign culture".

I am a former U.S. Marine who studied Modern Standard Arabic at the Defense Language Institute at Monterey, CA. I've spent one to four months in four different Middle Eastern countries in the last five years.
I give Arabic lessons to anyone from no proficiency to limited working proficiency. My philosophy for language acquisition is to master grammar first, while memorizing easy vocabulary. From there I like to focus on simple subjects, eventually working our way up to more complex topics like politics and world issues. This will take time but I'm confident that anyone can learn Arabic in a light-hearted and fun environment.
