About Cecile

I am a 28-year-old neuroscience researcher and a native French speaker from a small village in France—close to the region known for Brie cheese and not far from Champagne!

My academic journey has taken me from Paris to London, Switzerland, and Boston in the United States. Living and studying in different countries has given me first-hand experience of adapting to new environments, communicating across cultures, and learning alongside people from many different backgrounds. I understand both the excitement and the challenges of learning and using a new language.

I take my lessons seriously and aim to create a professional, friendly, and encouraging learning environment. I adapt each class to the student’s goals while helping them gain the confidence to speak French in real-life situations.

Beyond language, I am passionate about French culture, literature, and the arts, and I am a particular fan of ballet. I would be delighted to share these aspects of France with you and make your learning experience both useful and enjoyable.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is flexible and tailored to each student’s needs, goals, and current level. I focus especially on helping students speak French as much as possible, so that they can build confidence and use the language naturally in everyday situations.

Lessons are practical and conversation-based. Whether you are preparing for a trip to France, refreshing knowledge you learnt in the past, or aiming to become more fluent, we will work with useful real-life topics and situations. I encourage students to communicate from the start, while also supporting them with grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and corrections when needed.

Each lesson lasts one hour and can be adapted to your pace and priorities. I aim to create a friendly, supportive environment where you feel comfortable making mistakes and progressing step by step.

During my PhD at the University of Cambridge, I gained extensive experience tutoring and supporting students. These skills are highly transferable to language teaching: I know how to explain ideas clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and help learners feel motivated and capable.

My lessons are mainly for students aged 16+ and adults, from beginner to advanced level. Whether you need French for travel, work, studies, conversation, or personal interest, I would be happy to help you reach your goals.
