About Kelly

As a native French speaker with over 10 years of experience in education, I am passionate about teaching French language and culture in a way that is both engaging and challenging. I provide targeted exam preparation for a variety of qualifications, including GCSE, A-Level, and DELF-DALF exams. Whether you're a complete beginner or preparing for your final exams, I tailor each lesson to your individual needs, ensuring the best approach for your goals.

I have extensive experience preparing students for national exams like GCSE and A-Level, including familiarity with the AQA, Edexcel and IGCSE boards. My students consistently achieve their targeted grades, with many improving from grade 4 to 9 for GCSE and from A* to C for A-level.

About the lesson

I’ve got some positive experience with a variety of English and French-speaking learners since 2017:
- 2 Primary students
- 20 Secondary students
- 2 adults

Although I’ve mostly worked with Secondary pupils, I am more than happy to help adult learners!

In my lessons, I focus on making French learning interactive, fun, and engaging. Rather than just lecturing, I encourage students to be actively involved in their learning process, using a variety of materials like songs, videos, games, and creative activities to reinforce grammar, vocabulary, and communication skills. For GCSE and A-Level preparation, I focus on practical exam skills, offering techniques to improve speaking, listening, writing, and reading. I use exam-style materials and practice speaking tasks, helping students build confidence and competence. I also offer feedback on homework and use fun activities such as Simon Says, Hangman, and Tic-Tac-Toe to reinforce key points in an enjoyable way.

Each student is unique, and I tailor my lessons based on their personal goals, strengths, and areas of improvement. For the first lesson, I assess the student's level through a quick spoken and written test and discuss their main difficulties and goals. Then, I structure future lessons to help them progress efficiently. I use both French and English as needed, adapting the lesson language to the student's understanding.

I use a variety of materials, including videos, interactive games, and revision books (Collins Easy Learning, CGP, AQA/Pearson Edexcel A-Level). I also like to create personalized activities based on each student’s needs. My favourite teaching tool is my whiteboard, which helps students visualise key concepts and structures. I always aim to make the learning process fun and memorable by using different strategies, from gap-filling activities to true/false exercises, and of course, plenty of French conversation practice.
