About Florence

My name is Florence, I am a native French speaker from Quebec and a bilingual student in the United States. I also speak English fluently and am currently learning Spanish, which helps me stay very aware of what it feels like to be a language learner at different stages.

I am someone who is patient, easy to talk to, and very understanding when it comes to learning something new. I know that speaking a new language can feel intimidating at first, so I always try to create a comfortable space where students do not feel judged and can actually enjoy the process instead of stressing about being perfect.

I also have experience teaching English while volunteering in an orphanage in Peru, where I worked with children of different ages and learning levels. That experience helped me become more flexible in how I explain things and reinforced the importance of patience, encouragement, and adapting to each student’s needs in real time.

I pay attention to how each student learns differently. Some people need more time to speak, others need more help understanding, and some just need things explained in a simpler way. I adapt to that naturally and try to make things feel clear and manageable instead of overwhelming.

What I care about most is helping students feel progress and confidence, even in small steps. I believe that learning a language should feel like building something you can actually use in real life, not just memorizing information for a test.

Overall, I would describe myself as approachable, patient, and focused on helping students feel comfortable and motivated while learning French.

About the lesson

My name is Florence, and I am a native French speaker from Quebec and a bilingual student in the United States. In my lessons, I focus on creating a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable speaking from day one, even if they are complete beginners.

My teaching approach is very practical and conversation-based. Instead of overwhelming students with grammar rules, I help them build real communication skills through speaking, listening, pronunciation practice, and everyday vocabulary. I also use English translation when needed to make sure everything is clearly understood, especially for beginners who are just starting their French journey.

A typical lesson depends on the student’s goals. For example, we might practice simple conversations, role-play real-life situations like ordering food or traveling, work on pronunciation and listening comprehension, or go over basic reading and translation exercises. If a student has a specific goal such as travel French, school support, or general conversation, I adapt every lesson to match that.

What makes my lessons different is that I’ve personally learned English as a second language and I am currently learning Spanish as well, so I truly understand what it feels like to start from zero and not know how to express yourself. Because of that, I focus on patience,
encouragement, and building confidence step by step rather than rushing progress.

My lessons are best suited for beginners, children, or anyone who wants to learn practical French for everyday life, travel, or conversation. My goal is to help students not just “study” French, but actually feel comfortable using it in real situations.
