About Yaye

Bonjour! My name is Yaye, and I am a native French and Wolof speaker with a passion for languages, cultures, and helping others communicate with confidence.

I graduated summa cum laude from George Mason University with a degree in Global Affairs and have used French professionally in international and multicultural environments, including through my experience with UN Women in Senegal and the National Democratic Institute in Washington, D.C. My work has included bilingual communication, research, and translating professional materials between French and English.

Having lived and worked in both French- and English-speaking environments, I understand that learning a language is about more than memorizing grammar—it’s about becoming comfortable enough to actually use it.

I’m patient, encouraging, and happy to work with students at different levels and with different goals, whether you’re learning French for conversation, school, travel, work, or simply because you love the language.

About the lesson

My French lessons are personalized, practical, and designed around your individual goals. Whether you’re a complete beginner, looking to become more confident in conversation, improve your pronunciation and vocabulary, or strengthen your French for school, travel, or professional settings, I’ll adapt each lesson to your level and learning style.

As a native French speaker, I focus on helping you learn French as it is naturally spoken while also building a strong foundation in grammar, vocabulary, reading, and writing. I especially enjoy creating a comfortable environment where students can practice speaking without being afraid of making mistakes.

Lessons can include guided conversation, pronunciation practice, vocabulary building, grammar, reading and listening exercises, and real-life scenarios. For professionals, I can also help with workplace communication, presentations, emails, and conversational French.

Most importantly, my goal is for you to leave each lesson feeling more confident and comfortable using French in real life.
