About Ailsa

I have always loved to teach students from all walks of life. I have taught students as young as 3 and even students aged 50. I believe that there is no age limit when it comes to taking up a new language as I myself can now speak 4 languages in total, so I can completely understand the challenges you may face when learning a new language.

Over the past few years I have taught students in all sorts of different environments. I have taught online, in primary schools and even in a secondary school in Italy. Overall I would say that I am a very patient and enthusiastic teacher and in my opinion is it crucial to have engaging lessons in order to really help you reach your full potential.

About the lesson

Hi there/Salut! I'm a billingual french native speaker and currently an MA student. I am looking forward to teaching you how to improve your understanding of the french language and of french culture.

In general I try to keep my classes varied and entertaining. I tend to focus on the students weaker areas and I try to turn them into strengths using a range of exercises which will push them in the right direction. In class I help the students practise their written, reading and french oral comprehension with the use of interesting articles, videos and engaging power points. I will in addition provide students with help regarding grammar and pronunciation when required.

I furthermore find it important to teach students about the culture of the country by showing and explaining to them the cultural differences between the countries as well as the fascinating aspects such as music, the arts, film and sport. At the end of classes I may give students an entertaining cultural assignment to do to which will really help them gain an insight into french society.

At the end of classes I usually give students an assignment , either cultural or grammatical to help them progress outside of lessons. The student can then send me the assignment once it is completed and the next time in class I will give them constructive feedback where I will highlight the positive outcomes and also the areas that the student needs to work on.
