About Joachim
Originally from Hamburg, I have taught German at universities, private language institutes and the Goethe-Institut (the official representative of German culture abroad) on three continents over the past 25 years. Some more facts about me: - I studied linguistics in my first degree. - I hold a PhD from a UK university in something rather different, Financial and Management Studies. In other words, I also speak a bit of English. - I am passionate about language, and everything to do with it. Apart from teaching, I have also worked as a translator, lecturer, trainer, researcher and consultant for private and public sector clients in five different countries and two Canadian provinces.

I teach both standard curricula and personally tailored classes to adult learners of all levels. Classes take a communicative approach, get you talking and work on what is important to you. Do you want to learn about Germany's society, culture, and the economy? Or rather about grammar, reading strategies or literature? Or do you just need German for a holiday? You define your goals, and we will work to reach them together! Feel free to bring your friends. Up to three students are welcome to participate in different locations at no additional cost. All classes are online.
