About Ylva

I moved to England in 2015 and after finishing Highschool I am currently studying at the University of Edinburgh.

I am fluent in both German and English and finished Highschool as the best student of the year with over 90% in all my subjects.

I am currently tutoring privately on superprof and a variety of other platforms and also work in a language cafe where I work with a group of intermediate/ advanced German speakers.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is learning by doing. As a native german speaker I was only able to learn English through constantly practicing and speaking. That’s why I believe in a hands on approach rather than only focusing on theoretical approach.

During my lessons, I use an online whiteboard which means we will both be able to write and edit at the same time. I prepare each lesson in advance with some theory and loads of practice. We then go through it together and you will be talking and writing.

My typical lesson structure:

5-10 minutes: recap from last lesson
20-30 minutes: go through new content ( I will normally break this up and go through some exercises every 10 minutes or so)
10-15 minutes: exercises (this will normally contain you writing, talking and reading)
5-10minutes: summary of the lesson and homework (varies)

For my absolute beginners: We will start with simply greetings and slowly work our way to " our first conversation" which will generally happen in Lesson 5/6 (depending on student).
