Super Tutor

Manuela is one of our best German tutors. They have a high-quality profile, verified qualifications, a quick response time, and great reviews from students!

About Manuela

I am a native German speaker, professionally trained teacher, adult educator, and coach, with university degrees in teaching and sociology. For the past 23 years, I have been working one-on-one with adults from different professional and cultural backgrounds.

I have been teaching English and German as second languages since 2008, both for language schools and independently. My teaching focuses particularly on adults, practical communication, and adapting lessons to the individual learner rather than following one fixed method.

Over time, I became increasingly interested not only in what people learn, but in how they learn — and how confidence, motivation, habits, and previous learning experiences can shape that process. My coaching background helps me work with these aspects in a supportive and practical way.

My style is calm, collaborative, and encouraging. I particularly enjoy helping adult learners become more confident using German in real conversations while also building the structure and accuracy they need.

About the lesson

My lessons are shaped around your individual goals, current level, and reasons for learning German. Together, we set clear learning goals and adjust our approach as your skills and needs develop.

I believe that speaking German as much as possible is essential to building confidence and fluency. Our lessons therefore include plenty of conversation, while grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and written language are introduced and practised where they are most useful.

I provide feedback during the lesson as needed and can also give more detailed feedback afterwards. For students preparing for the Goethe B1 or B2 exam, we can focus specifically on the skills and task types required for the exam while continuing to build practical, natural German.

My approach is supportive, flexible, and practical. The aim is not simply to complete exercises, but to help you use German with greater confidence and independence.

Perfect! Manuela is a fantastic teacher, full of enthusiasm and an absolute joy to work with. She is very well organized (providing great feedback documents with homework and other very helpful resources) and it is obvious she is quite skilled and knowledgable in teaching.

Working with her has really accellerated my learning in German. Her flexible style is wonderful (focusing on the topics that you want to learn) and she provides answers to questions clearly and concisely while always giving a moment after to continue asking questions (rather than moving on, like many other teachers can), while providing additional material in the feedback document to further your understanding.

It is clear she cares a lot, her encouragment and friendlyness have kept me really motivated to keep practicing. I cannot recommend her enough!

Manuela is an absolutely outstanding language teacher. You feel immediately at ease with her which is a huge benefit when trying to actually speak in a language you are just learning. Her coaching is patient, respectful and insightful. Her knowledge of both German and English are very deep which enables her to explain the nuances of German and the differences between German and English clearly and thoroughly. And...she's a lot of fun! I have worked with her for a few months now and my German speaking ability has grown greatly. I absolutely recommend her no matter what your language proficiency is.

Manuela has helped me very much with my preparation for the TOEFL test. After each lesson she has wrote a feedback, so I will know which fields I need to practice. I recommend Manuela very much for all level students and of course for students who want to take a German test (TESTDAF, Goethe etc.)
