About Svadhaa

Namaste! I am Svadhaa Agarwal — born and raised in India, now based in Singapore, and proud to carry my language and culture with me wherever I go.
Hindi is not just a subject I teach — it is the language I grew up in. It is the language of my earliest memories, my family conversations, my favorite films, and the stories that shaped who I am. That lived, breathing relationship with Hindi is something no textbook can replicate, and it is exactly what I bring into every lesson.
By academic background, I am a postgraduate in Business Analytics from NTU with a Bachelor's degree in Statistics — which might seem an unlikely pairing with language teaching, but it reflects something important about how I think. I am naturally analytical, structured, and curious. I do not just speak Hindi fluently — I understand how it works, why it is constructed the way it is, and how to explain that clearly to someone encountering it for the first time or rediscovering it after years away.
Outside of teaching, I am someone who loves dancing, exploring technology and AI, watching films — Hindi ones very much included — and diving into research and creative projects. I am endlessly curious, and that energy carries into my sessions.
My students and friends would describe me as patient, warm, and someone who genuinely listens. I do not believe in one-size-fits-all teaching. Every student comes with a different relationship with Hindi — some nostalgic, some nervous, some simply curious — and I meet each of them exactly where they are.

About the lesson

I offer one-hour online Hindi lessons open to all levels, from complete beginners picking up their first words, to heritage learners who grew up hearing Hindi at home but never quite got comfortable reading or writing it, to anyone simply wanting to speak with more confidence and fluency.

Hindi is my mother tongue, and that is my single biggest asset as a tutor. I do not teach Hindi from a textbook, I teach it the way it is actually lived. My lessons weave together conversation practice, storytelling, Bollywood dialogues, and song lyrics to make the language feel alive and enjoyable rather than like a grammar exercise. If you can hum along to a Hindi song, you are already learning and I build on exactly that instinct.

Each session is tailored to where the student is and where they want to go. A typical lesson might open with a short conversational warm-up, move into reading or writing practice, and close with a cultural snippet, a film dialogue, a proverb, or a short story that ties the lesson together and gives it meaning beyond the classroom. Grammar is woven in naturally, not drilled in isolation, so students absorb structure without feeling like they are studying rules.

I hold an MSc in Business Analytics from NTU and bring the same analytical clarity to language teaching, breaking down patterns, explaining the logic behind grammar, and helping students see Hindi as a system they can genuinely decode and use. Combined with my patience and empathetic teaching style, honed through years of explaining things to classmates and working with children at NGOs, I create a space where students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them.
