About Sohee

Hi! I’m Sohee, a native Korean speaker from Korea, currently studying at university and working as an art teacher in Sydney. I believe a good teacher doesn’t just teach. They make you feel comfortable enough to try, make mistakes, ask questions, and keep going so basically I always highlight about the relationship connection between me and students a lot. Working as a teacher has taught me that every student is different. Some people learn quickly through conversation, while others need more time, structure, repetition, or encouragement. I enjoy getting to know each student and finding the approach that makes them feel most confident and motivated.

I experienced my primary, middle and high school education in Korea, so Korean language and culture are naturally a big part of who I am. I’m also comfortable communicating in English, so don’t worry if you’re starting Korean from zero!

More than anything, I want to be a friendly and approachable teacher you can comfortably talk to - almost like learning Korean with a Korean friend, but with the guidance and structure of a teacher to achieve the goal :-)

About the lesson

[ My approach ]
I believe the best way to learn a language is to connect it with your own interests, motivation, and the culture behind it. Language is not just about memorizing vocabulary and grammar. Understanding the culture can help you understand how Korean is naturally used in real life.

Having completed my primary, middle and high school education in Korea, I can also share Korean culture, everyday expressions, and natural ways of communicating.

My Lessons personalized for you
Everyone learns differently, so I will adapt each lesson to your level, personality, interests, and goals.
We can use a structured Korean textbook to develop the four essential skills like speaking, listening, reading and writing while also using materials that match your interests.

If you love books, we can learn through Korean books and stories. If you prefer YouTube, Korean media, music, or any other topics, we can use those to make learning more enjoyable and relevant to you.

[ Your goals ]
Lessons can be casual and conversation style focused, or more structured depending on what you want to achieve as I mentioned above. Whether you are learning Korean for everyday conversation, preparing for an exam or qualification, planning to study in Korea, or have another specific goal, we can shape the lessons around what you actually need.

Before we begin, I’ll take some time to understand you, your current level, and why you want to learn Korean, and we’ll build the learning style together from there.

I’m currently based in Sydney, so online lessons and in person 1:1 lessons within Sydney are also available.
