About Tegan

Hi! My name is Tegan, and I am a native Mandarin speaker from Beijing, China. I recently moved to Canada after spending most of my life in Beijing, giving me a deep understanding of both the Chinese language and culture.

I am an outgoing, patient, and community-oriented person who genuinely enjoys helping others learn and grow. I love sharing my knowledge and believe that learning a language should be both enjoyable and meaningful. Whether a student is just starting their Mandarin journey or looking to improve their fluency, I take the time to listen, understand their goals, and adapt my teaching style to their needs.

As someone fluent in both Mandarin and English, I can clearly explain concepts and help students overcome challenges with confidence. Beyond language skills, I also enjoy introducing students to Chinese culture, traditions, and everyday expressions to make learning more engaging and authentic.

My goal is to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence step by step. I look forward to helping you achieve your Mandarin learning goals!

About the lesson

My lessons are personalized to each student's goals, whether they want to improve speaking, listening, reading, writing, pronunciation, vocabulary, or reduce their accent. As a native Mandarin speaker from Beijing who is also fluent in English, I can explain concepts clearly and help students build confidence step by step.

A typical lesson includes conversation practice, vocabulary building, pronunciation correction, listening exercises, and interactive activities designed to keep students engaged. For younger learners, I incorporate games and real-life examples to make learning enjoyable and effective.

What sets me apart is my authentic native-speaking background combined with my understanding of both Chinese and Canadian cultures. Having recently moved to Canada, I understand the challenges of learning a new language and can help students develop practical, real-world Mandarin skills rather than simply memorizing words.

My lessons are suitable for all levels, from complete beginners to students looking to refine their pronunciation, improve fluency, prepare for school courses, or strengthen their connection with Chinese language and culture!
