About Audrey

I am Audrey, a native Mandarin speaker from Taiwan now living in Melbourne, and I care less about perfect textbooks and more about how language actually fits into your real life. I grew up switching between cultures and later learned other languages myself, so I know how awkward and stuck it can feel when you understand the rules but still freeze in real conversations. Teaching Chinese is my way of making that process kinder and more practical for other people. I enjoy taking your everyday world cafés, travel, family chats, work and turning those into stories, phrases, and little “scripts” you can use straight away. What makes me want to teach is that moment when a student suddenly uses a phrase naturally in a real situation and realizes, “Wait, I can actually do this.” That feeling is addictive, and I like building lessons that give you more of those moments.

About the lesson

My tutoring style is very practical and story-based. I focus on the Chinese you actually need in daily life and then build short stories, routines, and examples around your real situations, like ordering food, talking to family, traveling, or chatting with friends. Instead of asking you to memorize long vocabulary lists, I connect new words to scenes you can picture and repeat in your everyday life, so they stick more naturally. We recycle the same phrases in different lifestyle settings until they become automatic, then slowly add new layers. The goal is that when you walk into a café, supermarket, or workplace, you can hear our lesson in your head and use it straight away, without flipping through a textbook in your mind.
