About Natalia

I am a native Russian speaker based in London with a lifelong interest in languages and communication. I speak English and French fluently and also understand Spanish and Italian at an intermediate level.

I am CELTA-qualified and have experience teaching English as a second language to adults from different backgrounds. I have also helped private students learn to read Russian from scratch.

I enjoy working with people and particularly like the moment when something that initially seemed difficult in a new language suddenly begins to make sense. I am patient, approachable and curious about different cultures, and I would like to use my teaching experience to help others discover and enjoy my native language.

About the lesson

My lessons are friendly, practical and adapted to your individual goals. I am a native Russian speaker with experience in language teaching, including teaching adults. I hold a CELTA qualification and have previously taught English as a second language to learners from different backgrounds. I am now bringing that teaching experience to my native language, Russian.

I also have experience helping complete beginners learn to read Russian from scratch, starting with the Cyrillic alphabet and progressing to reading words and simple texts. So please don't worry if you don't know a single Russian letter yet!

I welcome adult learners, from complete beginners to those who already speak some Russian and would like to improve their conversation skills. We can focus on what is most useful to you — whether you are learning Russian for travel, work, relationships, culture or simply personal interest.

I speak English and French fluently, so I can explain Russian vocabulary, grammar and expressions in either language when needed. I also have an intermediate knowledge of Spanish and Italian, which can be helpful if you are more comfortable using one of these languages while you are beginning to learn Russian.

Lessons can include conversation, pronunciation, reading, vocabulary and practical grammar. My aim is not simply to teach rules, but to help you understand how Russian works and gradually become comfortable using it yourself.

Lesson length can be adapted to your needs. For new students, our first meeting is an opportunity to discuss your goals and current level, get to know each other and try some Russian together. From there, I can adapt future lessons to your interests, level and preferred way of learning.

Most importantly, I want my lessons to be encouraging and relaxed. Learning a language inevitably involves making mistakes, and you should feel comfortable experimenting with Russian and asking questions.
