About Yehor

My name is Yehor, I’m 17, and I’m originally from Ukraine. I was born into a Russian-speaking family in Kyiv, spending my childhood there before leaving the country during the full-scale invasion three years ago. That’s when I began learning English intensively, steadily achieving fluency. This experience helped me discover my passion for languages and motivated me to start developing a system that would allow me to advance far beyond my peers in mastering English. Using language apps, videos, and conversations with foreigners, I slowly grew closer to the language, until I fully bonded my mind with English. After that challenge was complete, I moved on to explore German. I began learning it at the start of last year and organized my efforts on my own, challenging myself to keep a vocabulary sheet and do a little bit every day to improve. A year and a half later, I must say it worked: today, I’m able to maintain a civil conversation in German and understand almost everything people say to me. My short but productive experience with language learning has motivated me to share my methods of achieving results in a discipline that’s frustrating for most, but genuinely enjoyable for me. As a person, I’ve got a lot to say as well: having lived in five countries over the past four years, I’ve gotten to know Mrs. Life quite well—and I’ve got a bunch of her stories to share:). I have a burning passion for the Russian language, which remains, and will always remain, my favorite. My main ambition is to learn three more languages—Spanish, Italian, and French—so I can speak to most of Europe. I’m an incoming student in the Trinity College Dublin and Columbia University Dual BA Program, where I’ll be studying politics—my other great area of interest. Outside of that, I’m incredibly flexible with conversation topics and always ready to talk about anything that’s “to your soul’s liking,” as we say in Russian.

About the lesson

An aspiring language learner myself, I am deeply convinced that with clear goals and a systematic plan, any student can achieve fluency in a language—regardless of natural talent. That’s why my tutoring approach focuses on designing a language routine that suits each student’s preferences. In our lessons, we cover the active and often challenging aspects of the language, such as grammar, speaking practice, and addressing individual difficulties. Outside of class, I provide clear and manageable instructions for integrating the passive aspects of language learning into your daily routine, which include structured vocabulary lists, recommended videos, writing exercises, and more. Generally, I would recommend taking two hours of classes per week, although my final suggestion will depend on your goals and pace.

Personally, I’m flexible in my teaching style. Whether you’re looking for a relaxed, friendly lesson full of personal conversation or a strict, “Stalinist” approach where we follow the plan to the letter — I’m the right person for you. Regardless of the style you choose, I’ll stay closely involved and committed to your language-learning journey every step of the way.
