About Isabella

Hi, my name is Isabella, and I’m a native Spanish speaker originally from Colombia. I have a love for languages, especially teaching, and I also enjoy music, art, and helping others learn. I’m enthusiastic, patient, and warm, and I always try to bring fun and engaging activities to my lessons because I believe learning should be enjoyable.

I recently graduated from high school with an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, and I’m currently pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice.

As part of my IB Diploma, I studied Spanish Language and Literature at Higher Level and achieved the maximum grade. This experience gave me a strong foundation in both the academic and cultural dimensions of the language, which I now bring into my teaching.

I also gained tutoring experience through the Tu Tutor program at Javeriana University as part of my IB CAS project, as well as by helping younger cousins with their studies. These opportunities taught me how to adapt lessons to different learning styles and create a supportive environment for students.

About the lesson

I offer lessons in Spanish and English for all levels, and I also provide tutoring for children in various basic subjects, helping them with homework, study tips, and building other essential learning habits. Additionally, I can support IB students with their coursework and exam preparation.

I begin by assessing each student’s current level and engagement with Spanish through a short diagnostic test. I also take time to identify the student’s goals, which guides how I structure lessons.

I believe the best way to learn a language is not just through grammar, but by actively engaging with it in real-life contexts. My teaching combines consistent immersion and active practice, using varied methods that prioritize both input (listening and reading) and output (speaking and writing).

A typical lesson starts with a warm-up or review, followed by focused practice on a skill area (grammar, vocabulary, reading, or speaking), and ends with guidance for independent practice.
