About Éloïse

I am about to train as a languages teacher for secondary schools in England and am receiving a British Council scholarship for it.

I was born in France, raised in Paris and have become bilingual in English from living in Canada and the UK. I learned English by listening to the radio, watching films and speaking with native speakers. Slightly obsessed with language, I am now am pursuing a PhD in creative writing and am a published writer and translator.

I spent a lot of time as a kid learning German and am now deep into Spanish learning, keeping me connected to the mindset and thrill of making mistakes in a foreign language!

Dominic is friendly and eager to learn French for his new job in Paris. He has good French pronunciation and remembers key vocabulary from his GCSEs. We will work on both his understanding and speaking confidence in the context of professional work.

Perfect! Éloïse is a friendly and approachable French native speaker who has been helping me with my reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. She is both patient and encouraging as a tutor, so I've already started to gain the confidence to go outside my comfort zone and make mistakes. This contributes to very effective learning through practice and exposure, which Éloïse reinforces with fun games and interactive activities in our sessions together. Moreover, her lessons have so far been well-planned around my goals, preferences and abilities, which were discussed in the first free session.
