About Alice

'Tell us about you' has always been the most challenging question I had to answer in my life. I am the kind of person that takes a question very seriously and always thinks deeply about it. I like to throw ideas, and thoughts to friends and discuss with them for hours. Language learning is my biggest interest when growing up, actually, now as well. I have experienced learning English, Korean, Japanese, French and of course Chinese is one of the very important subjects in basic education in Taiwan. I fully understand how it feels learning a language and I want to help others learn. As a native, I could adjust the class and contents according to you. I got high scores in schools in Chinese and English in Junior High School and High School. My major in college is Business and Health Care Management. I had experience teaching beginner level English for one year. Communication is a required skill at work which I have been practicing for over 15 years.

About the lesson

The classes will be designed according to students' needs. A meet and greet time is required to understand your level and preferences. For all levels, I believe one way does not work for everyone, therefore we will discuss and try several tools such as article reading, movies, singing, or just chatting on topics until we find the efficient way for you. In every class when there is a chance, I will share cultures and native perspectives, explain the histories and reasons to help you learn and reach your learning goal. For the very beginners, I recommend a strong start on phonetics (注音) which allows you to pronounce any characters. It will help with reading, basic conversation learning, and building your lexicon. *Please note the phonetic class only works for students who want to learn Traditional Chinese. As an English learner, my tutor helped me the most in reaching the next level. The key to learning a language well is to really use it in daily life. I hope I could be a helpful tutor and also your Mandarin-speaking friend in life.
