About Lise
Being fluent in three languages and holding a Masters in English Literature and History, I have long been fascinated by languages and their intercultural dimensions. This passion led me to pursue a second Masters in Linguistics, specialising in French as a Foreign Language. Having learnt languages myself, I bring a deep understanding of the challenges and processes involved in language acquisition, which greatly benefits my teaching approach. With over 25 years of experience, I have taught a diverse range of students—from high-level executives of major blue-chip companies to everyday individuals who need French for practical reasons, such as managing property in France or communicating with local communities. I also work with those who have French partners or simply wish to learn the language for personal enjoyment. Additionally, I have successfully prepared students for important exams, including guiding one student through her French entrance exam to Oxford University.

Although learning a foreign language does require work, I believe it is within everybody’s reach and can be a pleasant experience! Always aiming to use a variety of teaching methods depending on students' preferences, I always aim to develop practical language skills, helping you to overcome any language barriers you might previously have had. I strive to teach practical and authentic French as encountered in real life situations, based on communication first and foremost.
