About Joelle
As a first generation college student, I am currently pursuing my education at University of Hawaii at Manoa. Since forever, I have talked about attending this school as one of my dream schools. Throughout the application process, I worked very hard on my own without assistance from others. After applying to numerous universities, acceptance letters began to pile up in my mailbox, despite the adults telling me I would never get into my top four university choices. It is my goal to assist others in achieving the same academic goals as I did when I was in high school. By helping others, I hope to alleviate the feeling of loneliness that I once experienced. It is my goal to make you feel comfortable and at ease during the lengthy and stressful college application process.

I understand that everyone requires assistance with different materials, which sets me apart from other tutors. In the beginning, there will be no plan, and that is okay. Based on where the student is and what he or she needs help with, I develop a lesson plan for each student. Based on this information, I am able to develop a plan that will assist the individual in achieving their goals. During my teaching sessions, I listen carefully to the student in order to better understand what they require assistance with. In this way, we will be able to collaborate on the college application process as a collaborative team. The purpose of my lessons is to assist individuals who need assistance with applying to community colleges or universities. It is understandable that the college application process is lengthy and stressful. As a first generation college student, I had to figure out the process on my own. It is now my responsibility to make others feel not alone during the process and assist them throughout the academic process.
