About Olivia
Hi! I'm Olivia. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at the University of Washington and am currently in the process of applying to medical school. I love science and learning, and I hope to inspire that same curiosity and confidence in the students I work with. I'm not just interested in helping students pass a class—I want them to feel capable, engaged, and excited about what they’re learning. I’ve been a peer facilitator and mentor in college-level biology and neuroscience courses, and I’ve supported middle and high school students through science outreach and tutoring programs. I specialize in biology, chemistry, and math, and I focus on breaking down tough concepts into clear, relatable ideas. I meet students where they are and work with them to build strong foundations and independent thinking skills. Whether you're reviewing for a big test or just trying to make sense of a tricky topic, I’m here to help it click

As a tutor, I believe in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that adapts to each student’s needs. I approach tutoring with patience, curiosity, and structure—aiming not just to help students get the right answer, but to understand why it’s the right answer.
My teaching is grounded in active learning and guided problem-solving. I start by asking questions to understand where the student is at and what foundational gaps might exist. Then, I tailor explanations to their learning style—whether that’s visual aids, step-by-step breakdowns, analogies, or practice questions. I’m a big believer in “thinking out loud,” modeling how to approach complex problems and showing how mistakes are part of the process.
