About Firaol

About me...

Hi, I’m Firaol! I have a strong background in Psychology and Behavioral Neuroscience, with a minor in Chemistry, and I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Medical Sciences. My academic journey has given me a strong foundation in the sciences and a deep appreciation for helping others understand challenging material.

As a tutor, I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes—that is an important part of learning. I believe that difficult subjects become much more manageable when concepts are explained clearly, broken down step-by-step, and connected to real-world examples.

I am patient, encouraging, and committed to helping each student reach their individual goals. Whether you are struggling with a specific topic, preparing for an exam, or simply want to strengthen your understanding of a subject, I will tailor our sessions to your needs and learning style.

My goal is not just to help you get through your next assignment or exam, but to help you develop the confidence and study strategies you can carry with you into future courses.

I look forward to working with you and helping you succeed!

My Teaching Method and Techniques

My approach to tutoring is student-centered, interactive, and focused on understanding rather than memorization. I first identify the student’s current level, learning style, and areas of difficulty. From there, I break complex topics into manageable concepts and use clear explanations, real-world examples, diagrams, practice questions, and active recall to reinforce learning.

For science courses, I focus heavily on helping students understand the “why” behind a concept so they can apply it to new questions rather than simply memorize information. I also use exam-style questions and teach students how to recognize important information in a question, eliminate incorrect answers, and approach challenging problems systematically.

Lesson Plan

A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous material and a discussion of the student’s goals for the session. We then work through the challenging concepts step-by-step, using visual explanations and examples when helpful.

After learning the material, we apply it through practice questions and active recall through Khan Academy, Quizlet and Anki. I encourage students to explain concepts back to me in their own words because this helps identify gaps in understanding. We finish by reviewing the most important takeaways and creating a short plan for what the student should practice before the next session.

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor

As someone with a background in Psychology and Behavioral Neuroscience, a Chemistry minor, and graduate-level training in Medical Sciences, I understand both the science behind the material and the challenges students face when learning difficult subjects.

I aim to make challenging material feel approachable and organized. Rather than simply giving students answers, I teach them how to think through problems independently. My goal is for students to leave each session feeling more confident, understanding the material better, and having practical strategies they can use on their own.

Who My Lessons Are For

I work mainly with high school, undergraduate, and pre-health students who need additional support in subjects such as:

* Biology
* General Biology
* Anatomy & Physiology
* Neuroscience
* Psychology
* Behavioral Neuroscience
* Chemistry
* Pre-med/pre-health science courses
* Exam and test preparation

I can work with students who are struggling with foundational concepts as well as students who want to strengthen their understanding, improve their exam performance, or prepare for more advanced coursework.
