About Erin
Hi there! My name is Erin. In 2024, I graduated with my Ph.D. in Biology/Neuroscience from the University of Virginia, where I spent 5 years teaching and tutoring. Teaching was one of the best parts of my experience in graduate school, and I greatly miss it. I am passionate about meeting students where they are at, while incorporating teaching practices that focus on the individual. Through my teaching experience in graduate school, I found new and innovative ways to utilize online teaching platforms, particularly through COVID. I hope to continue to use this knowledge to help you learn and grow confident in the field of Biology. At our first lesson, we can discuss your goals, your preferred ways of learning, and determine whether we might be a good fit!

During my Ph.D. I taught multiple classes on Introductory Neuroscience/Biology, Fundamentals of Biology, and laboratory courses in Biology.
I have developed personalized educational programs for my students, and my approach to education is deeply rooted in evidence-based practices. I tailor my instruction and activities to meet the individual learning styles of students, enhancing engagement and academic performance. Specifically, I utilize active learning and engagement approaches such as ICAP (interactive, constructive, active, passive) frameworks. These efforts have led to significant academic advancements for my students and heightened engagement with the subject matter.
My lessons are for anyone from middle school on looking to gain expertise in Biology!
