About Abby

Hi, my name is Abby. I am a college graduate who graduated in May with a Bachelor degree in computer science. I have strong math skills and have taken classes up to Calculus 2. I always try to have several ways to break down problems. This is so if a student doesn't understand one way, there is at least one other way that I can try to help them understand. I have always loved math and programming and it gives me great pleasure to be able to see someone succeeding due to my help.

When I tutored in programming, I always asked to see students' notes and tried to explain things in a similar fashion to how their professor wanted them to handle the problem. This way I could clear up any questions with the knowledge that they have already received. I avoided explaining things too differently in case I confused them with a solution that is more difficult than what they had learned in class. I have tutored in python programming for a semester at college. I was able to help several failing students pass their class by breaking down a problem into smaller bits until the student was able to understand. I tutored other underclassmen at the college and assisted them without directly giving them the answer. By breaking down the problems, I helped them understand the core concepts so they didn't need as much help in the future.

In school I have learned many new skills in computer science that I believe makes me a well rounded tutor. Some of these include: networking, building an operating system, AI programming, data structures, and much much more. I was always known as someone that you could go to to get extra help in the class, and was very good at spotting issues in classmates code when they needed help finding bugs, and then able to help with figuring out a solution.A little more about me as a person would be I love to learn. I always have had an obsession with learning new skills and arts. I have knowledge of things from sewing and embroidering to my major of programing. Currently I am learning more about Java, JavaScript, SQL, and Japanese.

I look forward to helping students succeed at their goals for programming and math and hope that I can be some assistance along the way. Feel free to contact me for more information or to set up a lesson.

About the lesson

I try to break down problems for students several different ways till the sgudent gets a grasp on what is happening. I also try my best to make sure a student understands 100% of what is going on before moving on to assist with other issues.
