About Timothy
With over 20 years of performance, practice, and teaching experience throughout the globe and spanning all genres of music, there is no one better suited to teach you piano and/or drums this summer in NYC than me, Tim Monaghan. I've studied jazz under masters that performed and recorded with John Coltrane, Miles Davis, and Dizzie Gillespie at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, and I have a Masters in Music Education from Hunter College.

No matter your current level of training, I can and will help you to further develop and expand your musicianship and technical skills on the drums. Having myself trained with living masters and pioneers of the drums, who drew from their time performing with Miles Davis and John Coltrane, I am better equipped to inspire and instruct you in the tradition of drums and percussion. My teaching technique melds an emphasis on strong classical technique with a survey of all styles of drumming, keeping an eye toward the future and the ever-expanding contemporary music scene. Most importantly, I will show you how to lead a band from behind the drum kit, and to make crowds large and small dance irresistibly to your funky beats.
