We'll establish where you are in either your career trajectory or personal journey and then where you'd like to go, and what you'd like to accomplish. We'll examine you strengths & weaknesses and design exercises & a plan forward.

Background

Wayne Paul Mattingly is a multi-award-winning playwright whose work has been staged in NYC; Westchester & Putnam Counties, N.Y; Los Angeles, San Francisco; Bangor, Maine; Denton & Houston, Texas; Chamblee, GA; Valdez, Alaska; Kauai, Hawaii; and London, England.

Winner of the 2007 Tennessee Chapbook Prize; 2011 Arts & Letters Prize in Drama, Finalist, Milledgeville, GA; 2012 Denton Community Theatre, Method and Madness Competition & Festival, 3rd Prize, Denton, TX; 2012 The Last Frontier Theatre Conference,/Susan Nims Distinguished Play Playwright Award Finalist, Valdez, Alaska; 2012 Phoenix Theatre, Hormel New Play Festival Finalist; 2013 The Ashland New Plays Festival Semi-finalist, Ashland, OR; 2014 Ronald Duncan Literary Prize Finalist, United Kingdom; and 25th Annual International Playwriting Festival, Warehouse Theatre Co., London, U.K. and an IATC 2016 Cimientos Play Development Program Finalist, NYC.

He is proud to have most recently been awarded the 2020 Bronx Council of the Arts $5000 BRIO Award, NYC; a 2014 Helene Wurlitzer Foundation Fellowship Artists Residency Grant, Taos, NM; & to be a Grant Recipient of the 2014 & 2015 Disquiet International Literary Programs (Short Plays), in Lisbon, Portugal; and both a 2015/16 Can Serrat, and 2017/18 Can Serrat International Artists Residency Grant Recipient, in Barcelona, Spain.

He was a founding member & Dramaturg of The Misfits Ensemble in L.A., Founding Artistic Director of Tiger’s Heart Players in N.Y, a Dramatist Guild, & Actors’ Equity Association member. Last seen on stage in the 2013 Midtown International Theatre Festival in NYC, he was nominated for a Best Lead Actor Award. He has directed well over two dozen works both in CA & NY. His newest full-length drama, Anthem, was read at both The Village Playwrights in NYC & Axial Theatre in Ossining, NY. Presently, he is at work on a full-length piece centered around the trials of Mary Mallon.
