About Tamanui
Hunter stood tall on the field, heart pounding with pride. As a young Māori, I carried the strength of my ancestors with me wherever I went. Before every game, I whispered a quiet karakia, remembering my whakapapa and the courage passed down through generations.
I loved sports—the rush of the sprint, the power of the tackle, the teamwork that felt like whānau. Whether it was rugby, basketball, or running drills after school, Hunter gave everything his full effort. To me, every match was more than just a game; it was a chance to show mana, respect, and determination.
When I performed a haka with my teammates, my voice rang out strong and proud. In those moments, Hunter felt deeply connected to my culture. Being Māori wasn’t just part of who I was—it was my strength.

Their traditions include haka, carving, weaving, and the Māori language, Te Reo Māori, which remains important today.
