I like to discover the knowledge and skills students already have and work from there. I am persistent while tutoring and will make sure the student understands the subject. I like giving students a chance to work things on their own first before assisting them. During a lesson, I prefer to start off with an activity that will get the students energized while still encouraging learning. My teaching method in a formal setting is most similar to a demonstrator or coach style. When teaching something new, the method may contain many aspects of direct instruction which still gives students a chance to speak and ask questions.
